Plump Up Your Lips
From blush to mascara, you put on makeup to enhance your best features. With love in the air, and Valentine's Day just around the corner, you want to make sure you're looking extra sexy!
Your lips are the gateway to sensuality. And, there are lots of nerves in your lips, making them an erogenous zone, for sexual sensitivity.
When your lover is ready to go in for the smooch, you certainly don't want your lips to be chapped, cracking or flaking.
With these tips from makeup artist Anna Bernabe, your lips will be plump and kissalicious:
"1. Line them: Get a natural-toned lip liner and draw around the very rim of your lips. If you get a wobbly line, start over. When you have a solid line, fill in the rest of your lips with that same color."
"2. Plump them: To make your lips look fuller, apply your lipstick, then dot a bit of shimmery eye shadow to the center of your lips. Blend carefully. You want to achieve a natural looking shading, so keep your lip color lighter where your mouth opens. This will make your lips look fuller."
"3. Add shine: Lip gloss is what adds glamour to your lips. One thing you've gotta remember - gloss looks great, but it doesn't have staying power (which is so frustrating!) So, keep gloss in your purse, and reapply frequently during the day."
Since your lips lack the body oil and sweat glands that the rest of your skin contains, they get dry and easily chapped (cold weather really takes moisture from your lips).
Kate Weinberg from Nabi Medspa says:
"Don't forget to prepare your lips with a slick of lip balm. Use a moisturizing lip balm with Squalene, which is derived from the olive and has many moisturizing and soothing properties. Last, but not least- don't use a lip product that has menthol or camphor in it. These are used to dry up cold sores - a definite no-no for chapped/cracked lips."
