Homemade Spa Treatments – A Great Way To Escape The Winter Blues
Are you getting a little tired of this cold wet weather and long for warm and sunny summer days? Chase those winter blues away with a day spend pampering yourself with some homemade spa treatments. Not only will it lift your spirit, but it will also do wonders to your skin. Being stuck inside with the heat turned on can dry out the skin and wearing layers of thick, long clothing adds to the damage. Take some time this week to pamper yourself, right at home.
You don’t need to go to a fancy spa to get some luxurious spa treatments. You can make them right in your own kitchen. Pamper yourself alone, or invite a friend over for a girl’s spa day. You can even throw a little spa party with a few of your closest girlfriends. Give each other pedicures and manicures along with a homemade facial mask, while you catch up on what’s been going on in each of your lives. Finish your spa day with a light dinner and a chick flick.
Lift your winter blues away with a citrus bath soak. To make this homemade spa treatment, combine 3 cups of sea salt with 1 cup of powdered milk. In a separate bowl, combine the slices of one orange and one lemon with a few drops each of orange and lemon essential oil. Add the fruit mixture to the salt mixture and stir well. Run a warm bath, and then add some of the citrus mixture to the bath. Step in and soak in this refreshing citrus mixture that’s sure to lift your spirits.
If your hair and skin feel dry, give them a little extra attention with a hair mask and a salt or sugar scrub for your skin. Since things can get a little mess with those, grab your CD or mp3 player with some summer music and head for the bathroom. Apply the salt scrub while you are standing in the shower and rinse off when you are done. Don’t forget to follow it with a good moisturizer, preferably with a scent that reminds you of summer, like a lotion with cocoa butter in it. The salt scrub will get rid of any dead cells and leave your skin feeling smooth and soft.
