Don't Be Fooled by a Pretty Face or Nice Smile
Did he just lie to me? Did she just lie to me?
We ask ourselves this question more often than we realize, when meeting someone for the first time. The truth is; people do lie, a lot. It is never easy to discern their motive.
Some lie to simply boost their egos, to see just how much they can fool you into believing that they are more important than they truly are: a doctor, a politician or a dare-devil of some sort. Others may lie in an attempt to gain or take something from you that you would otherwise not be so willing to give: money, jewelry, sex.
The worst resulting, (and the kind you must truly take care to avoid), in the person that craves control and manipulation the relationship. They don’t stop at the first date or even a few, but seek to own you on a permanent basis. They become obsessed with controlling every move you make, the friends you keep, the places you go, even the food you eat. I learned the hard way, I actually married someone that seemed wonderful and perfect at the beginning of our relationship, but the true parts of his character slowly began to emerge as time went by, costing me more than I could afford to give. I nearly lost everything that was precious to me, including my life.
